Nepali police and local volunteers recovered the bodies on the weekend from the ruins of Langtang village, 60 kilometres north of Kathmandu, which is on a trekking route popular with Westerners. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) says it holds grave concerns for an Australian man whose last know location was in Langtang.

But, the natural beauty of the region soon invited trekkers from everywhere. As trekkers started to increase in the area in the 70s, the region had an economic boom.
